Tache Noir

Text >

"Through the darkly toned image series Tache Noire, inspired by forensic photography, Rikke Lundgreen examines this post mortem ocular phenomenon wherein the irises of the recently deceased display spots of black. Her watercolour tache noires possess double meaning; containing a visual link between perception and form, signalling the importance of the “blot” (or “tache”) to the inception of Modernism. Focusing on the relationship between what we see with our eyes and what we see with our imagination the work presents an acute reflection upon mortality; markings of the end of perception in the very organs of perception themselves."
